The Bono Regional Minister,Mrs. Evelyn Ama Kumi-Richardson,has said the disinfection exercise to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus in Ghana will be done in some 125 markets in the Bono Region on Monday, March 30, 2020.
According to Mrs. Evelyn Ama Kumi-Richardson, the markets will be closed down on 30 March and reopen the next day for normal business to continue.
The exercise has become necessary to rid the nation’s capital of any looming infestations.
“In line with the President’s directive on measures to contain and prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the country, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly with support from the Greater Accra Markets Association wishes to inform the general public that there will be a massive disinfection exercise across all public market centres within its jurisdiction.”
The Minister disclosed this during a press conference at the adult education hall in Sunyani on Saturday.
She said the exercise will start around 6am and urged markets women and transport operators in the three regions to support the exercise.
” We are disinfection 125 markets in the Bono region, Bono East 78 and Ahafo regional 43 markets as the exercise will start around 5am ” she noted.
