The Bono Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service (GPS) has begun investigations into the assault of a man in a private security uniform in Sunyani who was seen riding a motorbike in a viral video on social media Tuesday.
According to the Police,the said victims in dark uniform is not a police personnel.
“He may be an employee of one of the private security firms” Police said.
In a statement signed by Chief Supt Nana Kwaku Duah, the Bono Regional Crime Officer and copied to Metro 90.5 stated, “The attention of the Bono regional Police Command has been drawn on videos circulating on the social media of the activities of Abrafuo on the ongoing Sunyani Omanhemaa Funeral.”
The statement further added that the command will be having a meeting with the traditional council on the activities of the “Abrafuo” stressing on the need to uphold the rights of individuals in the municipality as the burial rites of the late queen mother progresses.
“In one of the videos, it was seen a man in dark uniform on a motorbike being assaulted by MTTU personnel and Abrafuo. The Bono regional Police Command has directed immediate investigation of the issue. The said victims in dark uniform is not a police personnel. He may be an employee of one of the private security firms”, the statement added
This comes after angry palace executioners from the Sunyani Traditional council and some police officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Directorate (MTTD) of the GPS were caught in a video assaulting a private security man in uniform at the central business district (CBD) of the Sunyani municipality.
Some residents who were not in black or red had their share of the assault for defying funeral orders in the area.

Residents following the death of their late queen mother, Nana Yaa Nyamah Puduo II, were asked to wear either black or red to signify that the municipality is mourning and also comply with some rules that were announced prior to the burial of the queen.
