Non-essential trips into Ghana from countries hard-hit by Covid-19 popularly known as Coronavirus is strongly being discouraged, President Akufo-Addo has stated.
Mr. Akufo-Addo said this while delivering his 63rd Independence Day speech at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.
The President advised Ghanaians to make a conscious effort of protecting themselves from the deadly virus and practice health safety avoiding handshakes until the killer virus is defeated.
He stressed trips from countries like China, Iran, Italy is being strongly discouraged.
Meanwhile, a US-based woman who reported to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital with symptoms of the deadly coronavirus has been quarantined, the hospital has announced.
The Teaching Hospital in a statement said the woman has been to countries where the deadly virus has been recorded.
“She reported yesterday at the Maternity Block and was admitted for gynecological procedure and in the process, it was detected that she had a high-grade fever.
“She is in a single room at the 6th floor of the Maternity Block, staff who attend to her have been given personal protective equipment. She has been reviewed this morning and is fairly stable,” the statement said.
