“The disinfection exercise conducted in the various markets in the Bono Region was very successful”, Mrs. Evelyn Ama Kumi-Richardson, the Bono Regional Minister said.
125 markets in the Region were on Monday, March 30, 2020, disinfected by a team of sprayers as part of efforts to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.
The exercise was in line with the President’s directive on measures to contain and prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the country and ensure that market women adhere to the precautionary measures.
The Regional Minister in an interview journalists after the exercise said although the disinfection exercise was aimed at combating the spread of coronavirus,”it has also helped to rid the markets of other diseases” she stated.
Team of Zoomlion [Ghana Limited] who are the actual operators disinfected various markets in the region.
” All the markets I visited and the feedback I got from my hard working MCEs and DCEs in various districts and Municipalities, in fact, the exercise was very very successful. It was our intention to disinfect the markets and we did just that,in all we achieved its targets”. She added.
She thanked market women for covered their items and absented themselves from the market to allowed the exercise done successful.
“Our Securities Service,Media and Nananom also did well,God bless them all,we hope, the exercise will continue periodically to make our markets place neat.” she said.
Mrs. Evelyn Ama Kumi-Richardson urged the trading public to still go about their businesses while they still adhere to the precautionary measures in combating the spread of the Coronavirus put out by the government.
“Please, we should continuing wash our hands with soap and running water and also use hand sanitizers often” she told Bono residents.
The exercise was attended by Eric Nana Agyeman-Prempeh, the Director General of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO),MMDCEs,Nananom,leaders of marke women,NADMO,Media and some party executives.
