Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah has clarified that persons who owe water bills will still enjoy free water supply for the next three months as directed by President Akufo Addo.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Water Company Limited, Dr. Braimah in an interview on Monday stated that persons owing bills as well as those whose lines have been disconnected from the national grid due to the non-payment of bills will not benefit from the President’s ‘free water for all’ policy as announced.

However, speaking at the Ministry of Information’s COVID-19 regular update Tuesday morning, Hon. Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Dapaah dismissed the assertion stressing that even though some citizens may owe water bills such persons will still be supplied with water for free for the next three months.

She further explained that the debts owed will be stayed during the three months period but will be revisited after the period.

“Those who owe water bills will enjoy the president’s water relief for the next three months,” the Minister for Water emphasized.
