The Bono Regional Security Council,(REGSEC), led by the Bono Regional Minister, Mrs Evelyn Ama Kumi- Richardson has lifted the ban on the use and patronage of tricycles (‘Pragyia’) for carrying of persons for commercial purposes with effect from Monday,27th April, 2020.
REGSEC also cautioned tricycle riders to adhere to COVID-19 safety measures.
The Bono Regional Minister, Mrs Evelyn Ama Kumi- Richardson,in an interview with Pulsenewsgh.com on Thursday,said the REGSEC has directed the Regional Executives of the Motorcycle Owners and Tricycle Riders Association(MOTRA) to ensure that all tricycle must be registered by Drivers and Vehicle Licensing Authority(DVLA) and riders too must acquired license.
She said as a precautionary measures to help prevent the spread of the coronavurus (COVID-19) in the region,they have directed all riders to wear nose mask and make sure that passengers also wear their masks before boarding their machines.
Barely a month ago, the RCC imposed a ban on the use of the tricycles a means to stem the spread of the COVID-19 in the region.
Critics described the ban, which received serious public outcry as unnecessary as it created huge unemployment among the youth in the region.
Due to this, the regional Minister distributed food items to15,000 tricycle riders in the region.
According to Mrs Evelyn Ama Kumi- Richardson,”Owners and Riders are to make available hand sanitizers for the use by passengers before boarding” she to Pulsenewsgh.com.
