The management of the Sunyani Technical University(STU) in the Bono Region says they have put all necessary measures in place to safeguard students from contracting and spreading the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
This is in line with the President’s directive on the easing of restrictions in relation to COVID-19.
Mr. Dickson Kyere-Duah, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Sunyani Technical University in an interview with Obiba Kakyire Host of COVID-19 Update show on BA TV said, persons without nose masks will not allowed to enter the campus.
According to him, management would sanction staff and students who flout the protocols instituted by the University in the fight against COVID-19.
“Staff and students who flout the Covid-19 protocols we have put in place would be sanctioned, without washing your hands you cannot enter any department,” he added.
Stringent protocols including; checking of temperature, provision of Veronica Buckets for washing of hands among others have been put in place by the University to prevent the outbreak and spread of COVID-19.
He said over 1,500 final year students are expected back on campus following the Presidential directive on the reopening of tertiary institutions for final year students.
“The security and the staff have been trained on all they need to know about the pandemic to help us to ensure that all the protocols are adhered to, Mr Kyere-Duah disclosed.
Each student has been given three washable nose masks and hand sanitizer.
“For the security people, if you don’t wear a mask; whether you are a student or staff, you will not be allowed into the campus”.
