Bono Minister tours voter registration centres, distributes Nose Masks(Photos)

Mrs. Evelyn Ama Kumi Richardson, the Bono Regional Minister has distributed COVID-19 PPEs to both EC officials and registrants at the registration centres in all the twelve (12) constituencies within the region.

The kind gesture of the Minister was done when she toured some centres in the region to oversee the electoral process on Saturday and Sunday,5th July, 2020.

Some of the items Mrs. Evelyn Ama Kumi Richardson distributed to EC officials, political party representatives and all those registering at the time were nose masks and hand sanitizers.



As she moved around to see how the registration was ongoing, she encouraged registrants to come out in their numbers to register in order to exercise their franchise in the upcoming December polls.

The registration Officers (ROs) in various centres said “all the registration kits provided for by the EC were up to perfection and the COVID -19 protocols strictly observed. Political party registration Agents also cooperating towards the exercise and we happy as well”.

Addressing EC officials and registrants, the Minister thanked all EC officials, registrants and political party representatives for their maximum cooperation towards the exercise.

She cautioned both the registrants and the EC Officials about the deadly disease that has engulfed the whole World and advised them to adhere to the social distancing directive to avoid the contraction of the COVID-19 pandemic to stay alive.

According to Mrs. Evelyn Ama Kumi Richardson,the Bono Region as of Sunday,5th June,2020, recorded thirty- eight (38) positive coronavirus cases.

“So, it is important to undertake the COVID-19 protocols very serious to prevent the contraction of the disease” she stated.

By the close of the registration exercise of the phase 1, the Electoral Commission had registered about 91,184 people in the region.

Day 1 to day 6 recorded about 12,418, 15,887,18,018,17,299,14,531 and 13,629 respectively.

These figures are without prejudice subject to verification from the Official Electoral Body, the EC.

The Minister at the climax of the registration tour in the Sunyani East Constituency at Abesim RC primary School, thanked all the Security officials for ensuring Peace and order at the centres, she also thanked the media for their good reportage so far.
