2020 Polls: NDC MP goes independent, accuses Asiedu Nketia


Former NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for Tain Constituency in the Bono East Region, Hon Kwasi Agyemang Gyan Tutu, has accused the General Secretaryof the National Democratic Congress (NDC),Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia for sponsored Ramzy Sulemana Adam against him and masterminded his defeat during their parliamentary primaries.

He described his defeat as cheating that made him lost the seat because his opponent had a support from the General Secretary of the NDC party.

“It is wrong for the Secretary of the party to support a candidate in battle front within the party” he stated.

Hon Kwasi Agyemang Gyan Tutu, who has announced his decision to contest as an independent parliamentary candidate said his decision came because the party do not recognize his efforts for the past years.

 Hon. Gyan-Tutu said this during an interview with Obiba Kaakyire on election collation Centre on Bono and Ahafo Television (BA TV).

The former MP polled 507 votes representing 47.34% as against the winner (Ramzy Sulamana Adam) who polled 564 votes representing 52.66%.

Hon Kwasi Agyemang Gyan Tutu accused some unseen hands within the party of orchestrating his defeat and he is therefore contesting as an independent candidate.

“Upon all my defeat and contesting as an independent candidate am still in good relationship with the General Secretary” he said.

“Due to my hard work during my tenure in the office that is why people in Constituency pushing me to go independent candidate, although am contesting as independent candidate without any party name but I still love the NDC party and royal to them”, he added.

“I have promoted human capital and supported the needy that made me popular which will make me win 2020 the seat”, he said.

He noted, the constituency has benefited a lot during his tenure including, roads, infrastructure development, good health care, good water improvement, education among others.

He also outlines numerous goodies and better things for the constituency when voted into power.

Meanwhile, posters of the candidate have already started flooding the area barely a week after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Primaries in the area in which he lost to one Sulemana Adam.
