The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on its rank and file to strictly adhere to the Coronavirus safety protocols, especially during their campaign activities.
NPP made the call in a statement dated November 10, 2020 and signed by its National Chairman, Freddie Blay.
According to the statement, the call was in response to President Nana Akufo-Addo’s directive to political parties and other groups “to ensure that their members adhere to the Covid19 safety protocols, including the wearing of face mask, using sanitizers, practicing social distancing and washing of hands.”
It said emphatically that “in view of this (president’s directive), the New Patriotic Party wishes to call on the rank and file of the party to strictly adhere to all Covid19 safety protocols in the conduct of all party and campaign related activities.”
The statement entreated organizers of NPP events to make provisions for thermometer guns, Veronica buckets, and hand sanitizers at all times.
It said “leadership of the party at the various levels must also ensure strict adherence to the social distancing protocols and must make the wearing of face masks mandatory for all members and at all times during party gatherings.”
