The Ghana JIU JITSU federation in collaboration with the Ghana Journalists Association(GJA), Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regional branch have trained Journalists and media practitioners in the three regions on self-defense as part of preparations towards the December general elections.
The training which took place in Sunyani forms part of the measures to equip Journalists to defend themselves when unknown thugs want to attack them during election coverage.
Speaking to some of the Journalists who acquired such training told BA TV that “we are delighted for having this training as this is the first time in acquiring such knowledge and we would be able to defend ourselves in the line of our duties when someone wanted to attack us”
Meanwhile,the Ghana Journalists Association, (GJA),President for the Bono, Bono-East and Ahafo Regions, Larry Paa Kwesi Moses said the motive of the training was to get the basic techniques in self defensing when being attacked in line of duty and cautioned them not to use the training they have acquired to bully their fellow.
The President of the JIU JITSU federation in the Bono region promised to continue training Journalists on self-defense to curb the incidents bullying Journalists faced in their line of duty.
