I invoked ‘accident curse’ on Abronye DC out of pain and anger – NDC Member

A member of the largest opposition NDC party’s National Communications Team, Alhaji Halidu Haruna says he was compelled to rain curses on the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) Bono Regional Chair, Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye, out of pain and anger.

The two politicians four months ago (August 2020), met on a media platform for the usual discussion on issues happening in the country. In the cause of the discussion, Abronye accused Alhaji Halidu Haruna of having stated that women who are over 40 years and not married are prostitutes.

The former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma Central Constituency denied it and asked him to retract but he refused.

Livid by Abronye’s refusal to retract, Alhaji Haruna stated: “You’ll crash with your car because of the falsehood you peddled against me.

He continued: “…It is very painful for someone to peddle falsehood against you. If you are doing politics, you don’t peddle falsehood around.”

On Sunday, (November 29, 2020) the convoy of the Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe Abronye was involved in an accident on the Berekum-Drobo road when the regional team was returning from a rally organised at Atuna and Drobo in the Jaman South Constituency as part of Operations win all seats in the region.

At Domfete near Berekum an unknown vehicle with registration number GN 4656 Y entered the convoy crashed into the Toyota Hilux belonging to the 2nd Vice Chairperson of the Party Doris Asoma which caused her car to bump into that of the Bono Regional Chairman, somersaulting severally, veering off the road and overturning into a ditch thereafter.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities.

A day after the accident when Alhaji Halidu Haruna appeared in the studio of Agoo TV on Monday, Host of ‘Ghana Kasa’ Bonohene Baffuor Awuah asked him what he makes of the accident.

He said in as much as he was pained by the baseless accusation made against him, he never wished Abronye dead as he’s not his enemy.

Abronye is my friend but on that day I was so much hurt. He was asked several times to retract but he was adamant. Out of pain, I told him that if he doesn’t retract, I give him up to his car. I’m not happy that he had an accident. I thank God that he’s not hurt and that he came out unscathed. It’s painful to have lies told about you, I sometimes cry over some of these lies when I go to bed. You don’t know who to talk to, you don’t know how to extricate yourself from those lies. Serious lies that can even kill someone.”
