COVID-19: Social spots remain closed; let’s ensure memorable and safe Easter Festivities- Bono Regional Minister

As part of efforts to ensure sustained compliance with HE the President’s directive on Covid-19 safety protocols especially the Easter Festivities, the Bono regional Minister Hon. Justina Owusu Banahene has directed all Municipalities, and District Assemblies(MDAs) collaborate with their respective Police Commanders and other security apparatus to ensure that all social spots , including swimming pools in the region remain closed until further notice.

“There is constant engagement with operators of such spots to facilitate the adherence to this directive” she stated.

Hon. Justina Owusu Banahene,also called on MDAs to ensure heavy security presence to ensure compliance at all times.

A statement signed by AHon. Justina Owusu Banahene, the Bono regional minister , copied to Potters FM 88.3 in Sunyani on Thursday, said all other public places should also have hand washing facilities, and employ all other safety protocols.

The statement said MDAs should also ensure that  those who violate  these instructions are arrested, fined or prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others”.

ENFORCEMENT OF COVID-19  PROTOCOLS DURING THE EASTER FESTIVITIES

As part of efforts to ensure sustained compliance with HE the President’s directive on Covid-19 saftey protocols especially the Easter Festivities, the Regional Minister as Chairperson of the Regional Security Council in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and the Ghana Police Service directs that:

a) All Municipalities, and District Assemblies(MDAs)  collaborate with their respective Police Commanders and other security apparatus to ensure that all social spots , including swimming pools in the region remain closed until further notice.

b) There is constant engagement with operators of such spots to facilitate the adherence to this directive.

c) MDAs should ensure heavy security presence to ensure compliance at all times.

d) All other public places should also have hand washing facilities, and employ all other safety protocols.

e)MDAs should also ensure that  those who violate  these instructions are arrested, fined or prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others.

f) Every  stakeholder in the region is enjoined to be part of this campaign and stay away from social spots to save lives and curb the spread of Covid-19.

g)Drivers should avoid overspending to ensure incident free Easter celebration.

The Regional Minister further advises the public against excessive alcohol intake and to be cautious about food to ensure we don’t consume expired food products.

The Regional Minister reminds the public that though some group of persons have had the Covid-19 vaccine in the region, that is not a guarantee against COVID-19 infection.

Therefore, the public should observe the Easter Festivities moderately.

I anticipate that these directives would be strictly applied to ensure that the people of Bono Region have memorable and safe Easter Festivities
