Chelsea demand €50m superstar or midfielder from Barca in exchange for Pulisic

Christian Pulisic, a Chelsea forward, is said to be a target for Barcelona. Since moving to Stamford Bridge from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2019, the American has failed to live up to expectations.

As a result, the Blues are considering selling Pulisic. Chelsea could ask Barcelona for a sum of around €50 million or Dutch player Frenkie de Jong in exchange for Christian Pulisic, according to El Nacional.

The Blaugrana may have trouble raising the necessary finances to sign Pulisic. If they want to sign the American from Chelsea, they may have to accept a swap deal involving De Jong.

Christian Pulisic joined Chelsea in the summer of 2019 for £58 million from Borussia Dortmund. Pulisic struggled to adjust to the Premier League’s speed and physicality during his first few months in the country.

However, towards the close of his first season with Chelsea, the 23-year-old showed signs of his ability. During the 2019-20 season, he scored eleven goals in 34 appearances for the club in all competitions. He only scored six goals in 43 games for Chelsea last season, but he was instrumental in the club’s Champions League victory.

This season, Pulisic has slid down the Chelsea pecking order. At the present, he is trailing Kai Havertz, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Timo Werner. Despite expressing a desire to remain at Chelsea and compete for a starting spot, Pulisic could be lured by a move to Barcelona.

Barcelona is in serious need of a forward in January, as they are severely lacking in offensive alternatives. This summer, they were unable to find suitable successors for Antoine Griezmann and Lionel Messi. In addition, the Blaugrana are dealing with an injury issue in attack, which may force them to make some January acquisitions.

Barcelona’s terrible financial predicament and urgent need for a forward may force the club to sell one of their greatest assets in order to acquire funds for future signings.

Frenkie de Jong, a Dutch midfielder, has been a key element of Barcelona’s starting lineup. Since arriving from Ajax in 2019, he has made 108 appearances for the club, scoring nine goals.

De Jong is one of the young prospects around which Barcelona is attempting to construct a squad, alongside Pedri, Gavi, Ansu Fati, Ousmane Dembele, and Ronald Araujo.

In light of this, Barcelona may offer Chelsea the option to sign Philippe Coutinho, a former Liverpool star, in return for Pulisic. Since joining Barcelona from Liverpool in January 2018, the Brazilian has struggled to deliver for the club.

Chelsea had previously indicated interest in the attacking midfielder, and they may still be intrigued.
