Cristiano Ronaldo is the proud owner of what is believed to be the world’s most expensive watch, which costs £370,000.
Along with PSG’s Lionel Messi, the Manchester United star is one of just two active footballers to have earned more than £1 billion during their careers.
Ronaldo has surpassed David Beckham, LeBron James, and Roger Federer to become the sixth highest-paid athlete of all time.
With this in mind, it’s no wonder that the 36-year-old has splurged on a statement piece of jewellery like a Rolex.
The former Juventus hero purchased the clock in 2019, while still playing for the Serie A side, according to the Daily Star.
It was the most expensive watch the firm had ever sold at the time, costing £371,000, and it is still the case today.
The bezel and strap, both made of 18-karat white gold, contribute to the watch’s value, with 30-karat diamond accents that set it apart from practically every other watch on the market.
Almost every inch of the watch is coated in stones or white gold, making it a watch for the most discerning of customers.
It isn’t just for show, either: the watch’s shell allows it to withstand water pressure of up to 100 meters – though we doubt anyone would wear it in the ocean.
The forward was first shown wearing the garment on December 27, 2019, thus it’s possible it was a Christmas present.
Since leaving Turin for Manchester last summer, Ronaldo hasn’t been spotted wearing it on his wrist, sparking suspicions about whether he still owns it – or whether it has remained in Italy.
The Rolex has only been seen a few times in public, the first being his appearance at the Dubai Global Soccer Awards in January 2020.
