Medikal, a rapper renowned for unlawfully flashing a gun in public, has been remanded in custody.
The singer of ‘La Hustle’ was seen brandishing a gun in a video on social media and was detained and held in prison by the police.
He was charged with displaying arms and ammunition in public before an Accra Circuit Court, to which he pleaded not guilty.
His lawyer, Emmanuel Yeboah Gyan, had urged the court to release the accused individual on bail while the case was being heard.
However, the prosecution, lead by Chief Inspector Dennis Terkpetey, opposed the application, claiming that the case was still being investigated and that granting bail would jeopardize the investigation.
His Honour, the judge, presided over the court. Medikal was remanded in prison custody by Emmanuel Essandor, who weighed the rights and safety of the greater society against the rights and safety of an individual.
