Minority Files Motion to Overturn Joe Wise’s Decision

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) legislators said in the motion that the Speaker’s decision to dismiss their rescission motion was an affront to the House’s rules and procedures.

Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu is requesting that the House overturn the reported ruling of the First Deputy Speaker on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, “on the grounds that it violates the House’s rules, traditions, and customs and was prompted by bias.”

Surprisingly, the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has addressed the five problems expressed by the Minority about the 2022 Budget Statement and Economic Policy, including marine defense for the Keta and Anlo areas.

This has led to several Ghanaians questioning the Minority’s motivations.

The proposal will only be placed before the House for debate and consideration once 48 hours have passed, according to House regulations.

The Minority Leader has already given notice that his party will file a resolution in Parliament to question the conduct of First Deputy Speaker Joseph Osei-Owusu.
