The Federal government of Nigeria has declared Tuesday, October 19, 2021 as public holiday in celebration of the Eid-ul-Maulud celebration.
Eid-ul-Maulud is an annual celebration during which Muslims nationwide gather to celebrate the birth of Prophet Mohammed.
The public holiday, was announced by the Honourable Minister of Interior, Mr Rauf Aregbesola. He congratulated and advised Muslims all over the country and to imbibe the virtues of the holy Prophet Mohammed.
This was disclosed in a statement by the permanent secretary, Ministry of Interior, Shuaib Belgore, don Friday, October 15.
The statement read in part: “Ogbeni Aregbesola enjoined Nigerians, particularly Muslims, to refrain from violence, lawlessness and other acts of criminality. As the indisputable leader of our race, we must show responsible leadership in Africa.”
The minister also enjoined Nigerians to cooperate with the government in its effort to make Nigeria a progressive nation.
