Donnarumma has had a meteoric climb to stardom in recent years, having made his Milan debut as a 16-year-old in 2015.

After helping the Rossoneri return to the Champions League and playing a major role in his country’s march to Euro 2020 glory, the Italy international left San Siro to join Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

Donnarumma is only the second man to receive the Yashin Trophy, following Liverpool’s Alisson, who won the first award in 2019 before the ceremony was canceled the following year.

The 22-year-old, who was also named to the Ballon d’Or final shortlist, received the overwhelming vote after keeping 15 clean sheets in 48 appearances for Milan last season, as they finished second in Serie A and advanced to the Europa League quarterfinals.

His achievements with Italy, however, carried the most weight, since he appeared in all seven of his country’s matches at the European Championships, including the final, in which he saved two penalties as Roberto Mancini’s team defeated England in a thrilling shootout.

No. 1 Chelsea Despite an impressive debut season in English football, Mendy nearly lost out to Donnarummma in the final voting.

In his 31 Premier League appearances for the Blues, the Senegalese goalkeeper preserved 16 clean sheets, including nine in the Champions League as Thomas Tuchel’s side won the competition in May.

Manchester City’s Ederson, Leicester’s Kasper Schmeichel, and Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez all made the top 10, with Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois, PSG’s Keylor Navas, Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak, and Inter stopper Samir Handanovic rounding out the list.
