Rhythms On The Runway (RODR), Ghana’s largest night of music and fashion, debuted at the African Regent Hotel in Accra on Thursday night.
This year’s event will take place on December 4, 2021 in the Grand Arena, with the theme “The Masquerade,” to urge everyone to keep their face masks on while the world returns to normalcy following COVID-19.
The Masquerade edition aims to document the times, demonstrating humanity’s resilience once more by fashioning the circumstance and possibly harkening back to a time when a Masquerade ball was the norm.
Top designers from Ghana and the African diaspora will display at the event, including Senyo Foli, Katie O, Details by Neyomi, MUDI, Jesu Segun, Nadrey Laurent, Pernia Couture, Nineteen57, Gloria Sarfo, and Attoh Andoh.
Efya, Afriyie, Sefa, Edem, Adina, Fameye, Miss Floewe from South Africa, Michael Stuckey from the United States, and Shatta Wale are all expected to perform.
One of the key features of the night, according to Yvonne Ocloo, Head of Events at Nineteen57 Events, would be honoring two showbiz personalities: Nollywood’s Richard Eyimofe Evans Mofe-Damijo and Ghana’s music superstar Pat Thomas.
“Over the years, RODR has given credit where credit is due. This year, we’ll honor two creative-industry legends.
“The wonderful Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) is an award recipient this year for his decades of commitment to the African creative arts business and his steadfast loyalty to African design. Our second, and certainly not least, honoree is a living icon who has dedicated more than five decades of his life to the music industry and has been a strong supporter of the RODR dream since its start. Our second honoree is Pat Thomas, the man who owns the Golden Voice in Africa. This event is built on shoulders like these, and as they both commemorate milestone anniversaries this year, we join in the well-deserved plaudits and immortalize them for their efforts,” she said.
The 9th iteration of KOD’s Nineteen57 Event’s Rhythms On The Runway will take place in 2021. Joselyn Dumas and Sika Osei will serve as the event’s MCs, with Nathaniel Attoh giving a special presentation.
