Some disgruntled National Service members have petitioned the government to enhance their monthly stipend.
Service personnel are currently compensated with a monthly stipend of GHc559, regardless of where they are stationed.
However, Abukari Eliassu Kurabaso, the departing president of national service personnel for the Northern, North East, and Savannah Regions, believes the sum is inadequate.
He pointed out that the country’s cost of living continues to rise, making the current allocation insufficient for staff.
Following a visit to the Mole National Park as part of National Service Personnel Week celebrations, Eliassu Kurabaso stated this.

“The country’s minimum salary has been raised, but service allowances have yet to be raised. As reported by Citinewsroom, he bemoaned, “We are making a sincere request to the government to enhance it a bit for us.”
“We rely only on the allowance, which is insufficient in light of the upcoming expenses.”
All tertiary graduates in Ghana are required to serve for a year in various institutions as part of the national service program.
