Tanzania’s president has been criticized for describing the country’s female footballers as having “flat-chests” and being unattractive for marriage.
Samia Suluhu Hassan brought about the remarks while hosting Tanzania’s Under-23 men’s football team at State House in the shoreside city of Dar es Salaam.
The 61-year-old is Tanzania’s first female head of state.
She formerly told the BBC some people questioned whether she should come to be president because of her gender.
“Even some of my government workers ignored me at first as just another woman, but they soon accepted my leadership,” Ms Samia said.
Her latest comments have been widely condemned.
