Xavi Hernandez was introduced as Barcelona’s new head coach in front of thousands of fans at the Nou Camp on Monday.
On the pitch, with club president Joan Laporta, the 41-year-old Barcelona legend signed his contract, which runs until 2024.
“Welcome, Xavi,” Laporta says. Welcome back to your old haunts. Today is a particularly emotional day. “Visca Barça and Visca Catalunya,” they say. “Today is a watershed moment in Barça’s history.”
“Thank you all, I’m about to cry,” Xavi says. “I’d like to express my gratitude to this club and its supporters.”
“I’ll tell you this: we’re the best squad on the planet.”
“Visça Barca, Visça Catalunya! This is an emotional occasion for me!”
“We can’t lose at Barcelona; we want to win everything.”
“We’ll start tomorrow,” Xavi says. I’ve returned home. We’re in a terrible circumstance, but we’re determined to succeed. I’m grateful for the club’s faith in me.”
“I want to express positivity and demand to the players.” “Excellence is what we must strive towards.”
“We don’t have to be tough,” Xavi says ( to players ). All we need are some guidelines. Things go awry when there are no regulations. We can go far when there are and are valued. It’s not about discipline; it’s about establishing order.”
“To be compared to Pep is a success!” says Xavi. He is the most effective manager at work. But if I were to compare myself to him, I’d lose by a long shot.”
“Injuries are a concern for us.” We have to figure out what’s going on. Everyone, from doctors to physical therapists, must be involved.
Xavi: Hello, I’m Xavi “When there were regulations in the changing room, things went well for us. We have performed poorly in the absence of rules.”
“From the outside, I notice that some players are under a lot of stress; the psychological issue is difficult to deal with, but we’ll work with them. I want to assist them both emotionally and professionally, and I want to speak with them to figure out what the problem is.”
Xavi: Hello, I’m Xavi “We are currently focused about Espanyol and will prepare to win it. Barça is a word that implies victory. We’ll put in a lot of effort, and the outcomes will be in high demand. We are working together on a medium-long-term project.”
“I’ve had a lot of coaches throughout my career, including Cruyff, Van Gaal, Guardiola, Rijkaard, and Luis Enrique, and I’ve learnt a lot from them all.”
“Leo Messi texted me to wish me luck,” Xavi said of his conversation with Messi. He’s fantastic, but he’s not here in the same way that Eto’o or Ronaldinho are… We must think about the future, not about players who have left Barça.”
Xavi: “In his position, Dembélé has the potential to be the best in the world.”
“Yes, it is one of our top priorities to extend Ousmane Dembélé’s contract! In his position, he might be the finest in the world.”
“Ousmane will have to put in a lot of effort, but he has the ability to make a difference at Barça as a world-class player.” However, he must maintain a high level of consistency.”
“In January, are there any signings? We’ll analyze the club’s transfer situation and make a decision; it’s still early, but we’ll work to improve the team. Regardless of the market, there is always a chance.”
“Barcelona had previously visited the city twice. I wasn’t ready for the first one. Because there were elections to be held the following one, I felt it wasn’t proper. I am delighted we were able to reach an agreement since Laporta has been the best president in history.”
